My Thoughts On "When All Else Fails, Try God."

You may have heard of the saying, "When all else fails, try God." Well, today I'm going to be talking about that.

So first off, I want to ask you, do YOU see anything wrong with that saying? It IS kind of catchy and I know when I first heard it I immediately agreed with it. But as I got to thinking about it, I realized there was something VERY wrong with it. Let me explain.
Some people try practically EVERYTHING when they're in trouble, and when everything they try doesn't seem to work, they finally try Jesus. That's the only time they think they need him. When they're in trouble. And that's not how it should be at all. That's what that saying means to me. When all else fails (after they've tried everything) try God. That's part of the trouble the world is in. They're trying everything else first and trying God last. It shouldn't be like that.
We shouldn't be the kind of Christians to only call on God when we need help. I'm not at all saying that we CAN'T call on God when we need Him, but that shouldn't be the only time we call on Him.

"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."
- 1 Peter 5:7

God cares and He wants us to call on Him. He loves to fellowship with his children so we should love to fellowship with Him too. And we shouldn't want to fellowship with Him ONLY when we're in trouble.

We should turn to God first. He definitely won't fail us, and then we won't have to go through the trouble of everything else failing us. Why use God as our last option?

I know this was a very short, but I wanted to share my thoughts with y'all.

What are YOUR thoughts on this? Do you agree or disagree? What have you been thinking about lately?

ANXIETY And How I (try to) Deal With It

I have problems with anxiety. I had my first anxiety attack sometime last year and IT. WAS. ABSOLUTELY. TERRIBLE. My body was shaking uncontrollably, my heart was racing, I was hot and cold at the same time, I was nauseas and I felt like I couldn't breath. The day after my anxiety attack I felt so exhausted. My body was so achy and it felt like it had been through an ordeal (which it had).
Sometimes, I don't even know when they're going to come. Sometimes I feel like I'm going to have one when I'm in large crowds or sometimes right before I go to bed. It doesn't matter, sometimes they just wanna come. So I have had to figure out some different ways to try to deal with them. That's what today's post is going to be about. How I try to deal with anxiety.

GET YOUR MIND OFF OF YOURSELF AND ONTO GOOD THINGS

This is a BIG BIG BIG thing in dealing with anxiety. When I had my first anxiety attack, my parents and Kristen took me in the living room, turned on a movie, and Kristen looked at Pinterest with me. I felt really sick at that time but it really helped in keeping my mind off of myself. And the more I kept my mind off of myself, the better I started to feel.
And you need to try and think about good things. Think about things that make you happy.

TAKE ONE THING AT A TIME

Sometimes looking at the big picture can be very overwhelming. But usually the situation is not as bad as it seems. Normally we take a small problem and magnify it, making it something huge, when in reality, it's normally something that can be dealt with very easily. So instead of looking at everything, try to keep calm and only take one thing at a time.

KEEP YOURSELF BUSY

Keeping myself busy on a daily basis has REALLY helped in reducing the amount of anxiety attacks I get. I've learned that if I stay busy with chores, blogging, exercising, spending time with family, whatever it may be, I don't have as much time to think about myself (see #1) which helps me fight my anxiety. I have a lot of trouble at night, for some reason, with anxiety, so if I exercise or spend a lot of time outdoors, I'll be more tired at night and ready to go the sleep. This way, I don't even have time to think about myself.

PRAY AND ASK THE LORD TO HELP YOU

This is the best one I can give. Pray and ask the Lord to help you not have anxiety, and if you are already in the middle of it, pray and ask Him to help get you through it.

My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.    - Psalms 121:2

Whether you have a small case of nerves (which I have trouble with also) or you suffer from anxiety attacks, these four things should help you out.

Also, shout out to Kristen for helping me write this post (a fellow anxiety sufferer xD) (does that even make sense?)

Have you ever had to deal with anxiety? What are some things you do that help? Did this post help you in any way? Let's talk in the comments :)

{LIFE UPDATE} || school + sky photos + spending time with friends

Where do I even start? I haven't done a life update in SO LONG that I think I've forgotten how to write that kind of a post. But, I'll try my hardest to get back in the groove of writing a life update post more often.

WHAT'S UP IN LIFE

- School work. I'm almost finished all of my subjects, and I KNOW I'm going to make my goal and finish by the end of February!!! *squeals* (I might actually finish by mid February :D)

- We've been spending a lot of time with our friends. We've been playing a lot of ping pong and air soft and just a few weeks ago we spent a day playing tennis together. Its all been SO MUCH FUN!

- I'm the main church pianist now so that's been fun! It's kept me very busy because I play for the congregations, offertories, and the special music, but I do have a small orchestra (consisting of a violin, two guitars, two flutes, a trumpet, and a trombone) playing with me, so that helps. A lot :)

- I've been doing lots of reading

- and taking A LOT of pictures of the sky

^ ^ me whenever i look at the sky

- My friends (who live a few hours away) came for a visit which was a lot of fun! It was great seeing them after so long.

- I got my flu shot. *nervous laughter* It was the first one I had had since I was like nine, so I guess  you could say I was quite nervous. It didn't hurt at all when I got the shot, but my arm was VERY sore that night and a few days after. But I'm back to normal now.

- We (as a family) (yes including Gideon our bullmastiff) went on our first country side ride of the year and it was wonderful!!! *sighs with pleasure*

- I haven't been taking very many pictures on my camera *hides face*, but I really need to start doing that again.

- I also need to start writing again. I've been taking a very long unplanned writing break, but I'm actually really missing it.

- It was in the high 60's last week but now it's low 30's again. *sobs*

- Had friends over to the house to eat dinner and play the wii and snack on chips, coke, and ice cream  after church on Sunday

- I got a lovely little package in the mail from a friend!! Thanks again, Rosalyn!

- The family has finally gotten back on a schedule after not being on one since Christmas. It feels really good, and I feel like I'm getting so much more accomplished.

So yup. That's my life update. *nod nod*

What have YOU been up to? What are some things you've been doing? How's school going? When will you be graduating high school? Do you like going for rides in the country? Let's chat in the comments, shall we?
